Privacy notice
Last updated
This notice covers penofwonder.com and the Pen of Wonder sites for Marketing, Writing, Publishing and Dev. Pen of Wonder Research has its own notice, which says the same things for that site. This notice is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
Who we are
Pen of Wonder Consults is a registered business name in Nigeria (CAC Business Name No. 7809965), founded by Wonderful Adebagbo and based in Ibadan, Oyo State. It is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at penofwonder@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you use a contact form: your name, email address, which part of Pen of Wonder your message is for, your message, and any file link you choose to include. The form also records the time it was sent.
When you message us on WhatsApp or by email: whatever you choose to send, including your phone number on WhatsApp.
When you visit a site: anonymous, aggregated statistics about page views (such as which pages are read, the referring site, browser and country), collected by Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies or local storage and does not identify you.
These sites set no tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner. If you use the light or dark switch, your choice is saved in your own browser’s storage on that site so it remembers it. It is never sent to us.
Why, and the lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- To provide the service if you go ahead. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep basic records such as invoices. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To understand how the sites are used, in aggregate. Lawful basis: legitimate interests. No individual is identified.
We don’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.
Who processes it
- Formspree receives contact form messages and forwards them to our email. Formspree is based in the United States.
- Google (Gmail) hosts our email.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you message us there.
- Cloudflare hosts these websites and provides the anonymous analytics.
Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria and the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards these providers use for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Formspree keeps form submissions for 30 days on the plan we use. Messages in our email and WhatsApp are kept for 12 months, then deleted, unless we have worked together, in which case we keep what we need for our records and tax for as long as the law requires.
Files you share with us are used only for your work and deleted when the work is finished, unless you ask us to keep them.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- give you your data in a portable format.
Email penofwonder@gmail.com to use any of these rights. We’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to:
